Sri Caitanyastakam

By Srila Rupa Gosvami, Stava-mala

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is always worshipable for the demigods like Siva and Lord Brahma, who came in the garb of orinary men, bearing great love for Him. He instructs His loving devotees in pure devotional service. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

sa caitanyah kim me punar api drisor yasyati padam (2)

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is a fortress which protects the demigods, He is the ultimate truth and supreme goal of the Upanisads, the wealth of all the sages, the embodiment of sweetness and shelter of His devotees, and the essence of krishna-prema of the lotus-eyed gopis of Vraja. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu forever nourishes His eternal associates such as Svarupa Damodara, He is very dear to Advaita Acarya and the object of Srivasa Pandita’s surrender. He honoured and respected Paramananda Puri. He is known as Hari, because He takes away the ignorance of the material existence and delivers the conditioned souls who are suffering from the threefold miseries. He is always eager to shower His mercy on King Prataparudra, the King of Orissa. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is forever maddened by relishing the mellows of devotional service. His captivating form is more splendrous than the sweet, enchanting radiance of millions of Kamadevas. He is the crest-jewel of the sannyasis. His garments display the effulgence of the rising sun and His bodily complexion defeats the splendor of molten gold. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is loudly chanting, the holy name ecstatically dancing of its own on the theatrical stage of His tongue, as He counts the names (on knots) on a strip of kaupina cloth with His effulgent hand. His eyes are large and His long arms, which are all-embracing as He performs His pastimes, reach down to His knees. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is walking on the beach and upon seeing the beautiful gardens, which line the shores of the ocean of Jagannatha Puri, He remembers Vrindavana and becomes completely overwhelmed by ecstatic love for Sri Krishna. He is the supreme relisher of prema-bhakti and His tongue thus sings incessantly the names of Krishna. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu danced down the main road in great ecstasy before Jagannatha, the Lord of Nilacala, who was sitting on His beautiful decorated chariot. Surrounded on all sides by jubilant devotees performing nama-sankirtana, He was overwhelmed in great waves of ecstatic love of Godhead. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu becomes very blissful as He is chanting the holy names with upraised arms, drenching the ground with streams of His tears. His limbs are decorated with horripilation, which defeats the beauty of fresh kadamba blossoms. His entire body is moist with perspiration. When will Sri Caitanyadeva become again visible on the path of my eyes?

May that fortunate person of pure intelligence, who meditates on Sri Caitanyadeva by reciting these most auspicious verses with great faith, experience at once within his heart the powerful waves of prema for Sri Gauranga’s supremely blissful lotusfeet.
