Merciful Gaura-kishora

The sweetness of Gaura-kishora
By Ray Sekhar

madhura madhura gaura-kisora, madhura madhura nata
madhura madhura saba sahacara, madhura madhura hata (1)

Sweet, sweet is Sri Gaura-Kishora, the youthful Lord! Sweet is his dancing, all his companions and the marketplace.

madhura madhura mrdanga bajata, madhura madhura tana
madhura rasate matala bhakata, gaota madhura gana (2)

Sweet, sweet are the sounds of the mridangas. Sweet are the rhythms. His devotees are wild with the sweet nectar of ecstatic love. Sweet, sweet is their singing.

madhura helana madhura dolana, madhura madhura gati
madhura madhura vacana sundara, madhura madhura bhati (3)

Sweet is his leaning on a companion and sweet is his swaying to and fro. Sweet are his motions, beautiful words and effulgent appearance.

madhura adhara jini sasadhara, madhura madhura hasa
arati piriti cariti madhura, madhura madhura bhasa (4)

Sweet are his lips that defeat the beauty of the moon. Sweet is his laughter, his arati, his ecstatic love, his character and his talking.

madhura yugala nayana ratula, madhura ingite caya
madhura premera madhura badara, vancita sekhara-raya (5)

Sweet are his reddish eyes and his sidelong glances. But Sekhar Ray has not yet attained his sweet loving service.

Ke jabi ke jabi bhai
By Srila Lochan das Thakura

ke jabi ke jabi bhai bhava sindhu-para
dhanya kali-yugera caitanya-avatara (1)

O brothers who will go? Who will go? Who will cross over this ocean of birth and death? This is a special kali-yuga, because Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu has come.

amara gaurangera ghate adana –kheya vaya
jada andha, atura avadhi para haya (2)

At the bathing place of my Gauranga, there is a free ferry boat waiting. There is no restriction; everyone is coming, including the lame, the blind and the distressed. All are climbing aboard to cross over.

hari-nama naukakhani sri guru-khandari
sankirtana koroyala dubahu pasari (3)

The holy name of Hari is the boat, Sri Guru is the captain and the devotees chanting with upraised arms are the oars.

saba jiva haila para premera vatase
padiya rohila locana apanara done (4)

All souls can cross over with the favorable winds of prema. Only Lochan das is so unfortunate that due to his own fault, he has been left behind.
